Asabi Unveils Long-Awaited Single “Bedrock” After Years in the Making

Recording artiste Asabi is celebrating the release of her latest single, “Bedrock,” a deeply personal project that has finally seen the light of day after years of anticipation and determination.
Released on May 31, 2026, “Bedrock” was produced by Asabi alongside Sheldon Sullivan, professionally known as Sosdynamikz. The Dancehall track is currently available on all major streaming platforms, while its accompanying music video was released on YouTube the same day.
For Asabi, the journey to releasing “Bedrock” has been anything but ordinary. The song was originally written in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and was initially intended for a different instrumental. However, after years of waiting for the original production to materialize, she made the difficult decision to take control of the project herself.
“I wrote this song during the pandemic and was extremely excited about it,” Asabi explained. “Years passed while I waited for the original version to be released. Eventually, I realized it wasn’t going to happen, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.”
Determined to bring her vision to life, she reached out to Sosdynamikz, the producer behind her first release, “Bamboo.” The collaboration quickly reignited her enthusiasm.
Sheldon was ready and willing to help. Within a few days, he had a new beat structured around the song. I loved it immediately and was excited to re-record it,” she shared.
Recognizing how long the project had been delayed, Asabi was committed to ensuring “Bedrock” received the full treatment. Alongside the song’s release, she invested in creating a music video to accompany the track, giving fans a complete visual and musical experience.
Despite her excitement, Asabi admits her feelings toward the single are mixed. While she remains proud of the project, she acknowledges that its suggestive Dancehall theme differs from the artistic direction she currently envisions for herself.
“I’m moving into my grown and sexy era,” she said. “I’d like my music to be more subtle and sweet moving forward. But I knew I owed it to myself to put this song out there. I couldn’t imagine not sharing it with the world.”
The response from fans has been overwhelmingly positive. Through strategic promotion on TikTok and other social media platforms, Asabi has been encouraging listeners to discover the song and video. Her online presence, under the name “Asabi Singz,” reflects her commitment to introducing herself not only as an entertainer but also as a vocalist dedicated to her craft.
The artiste credits much of her success to surrounding herself with positive and supportive collaborators.
“I only work with people who give me positive energy,” she explained. “My creativity can’t flow when I’m uncomfortable in any way. The songs I’ve released so far came to fruition through working with producers who respected both my artistry and me.
As a female trying to make a name for myself in the Jamaican music industry, I’ve faced many roadblocks. Some of those roadblocks were producers who recorded my songs but never released them. While some genuinely didn’t get around to releasing the music because they were working with bigger names, others were rooted in issues surrounding the ‘dark side’ of the music industry, where some producers have certain expectations of female recording artistes that they do not have of male recording artistes.
“That was discouraging, and I stopped focusing on music. That, coupled with a few life changes, lessened my creative drive. But my love for music has never died. It has been calling my name, so I feel that releasing these songs that have been sitting on the shelf will bring me back to where I need to be. Working with producers who respect me and make me feel comfortable throughout the creative process is definitely a key to success.”
Looking ahead, Asabi is already focused on her next release, a Lovers Rock reggae single titled “In My Heart.” The song, written several years ago, reflects a softer and more romantic side of her artistry. She revealed that bringing the project to life has presented its own challenges, particularly in finding the right instrumental. However, assistance from producer Kenly, who produced her single “Caribbean Peach,” has helped move the project forward.
As she prepares for future releases, Asabi hopes audiences will recognize the versatility in her music.
“I want people to hear my next song and say, ‘Wow, that’s completely different from her previous release.’ My range is wide, and I’m excited to explore different sounds,” she said.
Beyond reggae and Dancehall, Asabi also has her sights set on revisiting her jazz influences, signaling an exciting new chapter in her musical evolution.
For now, however, “Bedrock” stands as a testament to perseverance, patience, and artistic determination. After years of waiting in the shadows, the song has finally emerged, allowing Asabi to close one chapter and confidently embrace the next.
“Bedrock feels like my baby that has been in hiding,” she reflected. “Now that it’s finally out, I can breathe and continue my journey.”
