The emerging Dancehall talent is already dominating airwaves with the street sweeper called "Thug Anthem" officially released September 20, 2023 while the visuals followed on October 04. Hailing from the capital of St. Thomas, Morant Bay in southeastern Jamaica, where the new sensation attended Morant Bay High, who knew this humble star on the rise would be cooking up a storm, literally! We were excited to catch up with the artist, Romario Weir aka Di Ruption. He has aligned himself with the right company, New York City's elite Hot 97 radio hosts and legendary Reggae and Dancehall sound system DJ, Bobby Konders, known worldwide as one-half of Massive B, still making heads turn every dance they step into! "The official single is available on all digital platforms so if you can't find it, check your friends phone," said Bobby Konders. Di Ruption seemed quite happy about the fact that he has a lot of work to be released and he will be working with an array of different new producers as well as some who he's worked with since the start of his career, namely the likes of Elite Generation, Atto, Dunrich, Unruly and many others. His project in the works will have you on the edge of your seats waiting for more just by the sound of his hit single "Thug Anthem". As he goes deeper into the inspiration for this heavy release, he makes it a point to mention that the music will be relatable to those who've lost someone close to them to the extent that even the pastor would love to salute loved ones. It's clear this project was well put together as he tells us best: "There's a lot more to come, as this is just a drop in the bucket from Di Ruption and Bobby Konders from Massive B Sound System.” Feedback so far is great, especially from the streets, as it speaks of life in general itself and things we see daily. Losing loved ones is never an easy task to handle. This JamWeekly Magazine writer has lost 3 family members and two friends within the space of 6 months where they either passed away from illnesses or crime and violence. Unfortunate, but as he says, “it's all apart of earth and a higher plan.” Di Ruption continued, “This track was dedicated to all those who lost a loved one, no matter how long ago. It was my sincere condolences goes out to you." Just by the tone in his voice and the lyrics he delivers on this heartfelt banger, you can almost feel the hurt deep within. Stay tuned and follow this well-seasoned artist because we are experiencing greatness before our eyes. Written by Linkcon Prezzy Demetrius Edited by Lesley Hayles
