From Vershon Hits to Grammy Dreams: Dejaun “Dej” Taylor Is Just Getting Started

Jamaican music producer Dejaun “Dej” Taylor is steadily carving out his lane within the reggae and dancehall industry, bringing passion, ambition, and authenticity to every project he touches. Raised by Jamaican parents with roots in Saint Ann Parish and traveling back and forth between Jamaica and the United States throughout his life, Dej credits both cultures for shaping his musical ear and creative vision.Dej officially stepped into music production in November 2025 with the release of Punishment by Jamaican reggae/dancehall artist Vershon. Since then, he has continued building momentum with another release titled Nice Likkle Filly, also performed by Vershon.Although music has always been part of his life from a young age, Dej revealed that he originally explored becoming an artist himself before realizing his true passion was behind the scenes in production and creative development. After sharing his interest in music production with Vershon, the artist encouraged him to take the leap, telling him:“Gwan ah road, ah up from yaso mi G.”That motivation helped spark what Dej now sees as the beginning of a long-term journey in the entertainment industry.Looking ahead, Dej says his mission is bigger than music alone.

He hopes to inspire young people who follow his journey by creating opportunities for emerging talent the same way opportunities were extended to him.His upcoming production Celebrate reflects that mindset a record centered around honoring your journey, appreciating your accomplishments, and remaining proud of your progress regardless of outside opinions. Alongside Celebrate, Dej also confirmed additional projects are currently in development with Jamaican-American entrepreneur and producer Jenelle Alexia of A’Legends Productions. With a growing catalog and expanding vision, Dej says his long-term goal is clear:“In the next two to three years, I want to be looking toward a Grammy and overall just creating a legacy that I’m proud of and making my name known.”As he continues building his career, Dej remains focused on growth, consistency, and leaving a lasting mark on Jamaican music culture.
