Grammy-Nominated Producer Shakespeare Continues to Build His Legacy in Dancehall

Grammy-nominated Jamaican music producer Brandon Shakespeare, professionally known as Shakespeare, is continuing to cement his place among the country's rising production talents, building on international recognition while expanding his catalogue of hit records and collaborations.

Raised in Portmore, Shakespeare developed his passion for music production as a teenager, dedicating countless hours to perfecting his craft before establishing himself as one of dancehall's emerging producers.

His growing catalogue includes collaborations with some of Jamaica's biggest names, including Sean Paul, Vybz Kartel, Popcaan, Shaggy, Mavado, Alkaline, Govana, Jada Kingdom, Teejay, Chronic Law, Jahmiel and Bayka.

One of the biggest milestones of his career came through his contribution to Sean Paul's Live N Livin, which earned a nomination for Best Reggae Album at the Grammy Awards. He also contributed to Teejay's I Am Chippy EP, which debuted on the Billboard charts.

Among his most recognized productions is Govana's "Mawning Sir," a record Shakespeare describes as the song that changed the trajectory of his career. His production credits also include "Mi Seh," "Mi Seh Remix," "One Life," "Feelings True," and "1Uptown," records that have helped establish his signature sound within contemporary dancehall.

Shakespeare is currently focused on expanding his catalogue through the Mi Seh Riddim, which features tracks including "Mi Seh" by Govana and Jada Kingdom, "Diggy" by Ding Dong, and "Rhumpudum" by IWaata, while continuing to develop new projects with both established and emerging artistes.

Looking ahead, Shakespeare says his goal is to continue creating impactful music while building a catalogue capable of standing alongside some of Jamaica's most influential producers.

"I would like the name Shakespeare to become a powerhouse in the music industry, synonymous with the likes of Dave Kelly, Chimney Records and Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor," he said. "Releasing and building a quality catalogue of hits that touch and change people's lives, and that they can appreciate."

With Grammy recognition already under his belt and a growing list of successful productions, Shakespeare remains focused on taking Jamaican music to even greater heights while building a legacy that will stand the test of time.
