From Malvern Town Centre to showcasing Canadian Reggae and Dancehall on the international stage, Muscle of 2 Lined Music Hut shares valuable lessons on longevity, loyalty, meaningful relationships and the importance of remaining consistent in the entertainment industry.

Success in the entertainment industry requires more than talent. It demands dedication, meaningful connections, the willingness to adapt and, most importantly, the discipline to keep showing up. These were among the key messages shared by Muscle of 2 Lined Music Hut during an insightful conversation on the Entertainment Report Podcast.

The discussion explored the journey behind 2 Lined Music Hut, highlighting its beginnings in Toronto, the evolution of music promotion, the importance of networking, and its continued contribution to exposing Canadian Reggae and Dancehall talent to international audiences.

FROM MALVERN TOWN CENTRE TO THE DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT WORLD

Every successful journey has a beginning, and for 2 Lined Music Hut, those early experiences included selling CDs at Malvern Town Centre in Toronto, connecting with music lovers and developing relationships that would eventually become valuable throughout the years.

Dating back to 1996, the passion for music and entertainment has remained a driving force behind the work. Before digital promotion transformed the industry, music circulated through record shops, sound systems, radio stations, street vendors, and word of mouth.

Reflecting on the journey, Muscle offered an important message to anyone pursuing their dreams: never stop believing in yourself and continue putting out good work.

The road to success is not always smooth. Supporters may come and go, opportunities may take years to develop, and recognition is never guaranteed. Nevertheless, dedication, determination, and continuous improvement remain essential.

CONSISTENCY: THE SECRET BEHIND STAYING POWER

One of the strongest messages throughout the interview was the importance of consistency.

“It doesn’t matter how talented you are, how good you are at what you do, if you’re not consistent, it doesn’t matter.”

Muscle explained that talent alone cannot sustain a career. Artists and entertainment professionals must continue creating, promoting, and engaging their audiences if they want to remain relevant.

Using 2 Lined Music Hut as an example, Muscle highlighted the platform’s commitment to maintaining a regular Sunday interview schedule since approximately 2019, reportedly missing only between 10 and 12 Sundays during that period.

Every Sunday at 6 p.m., audiences can anticipate entertainment content featuring recording artistes, DJs, producers, managers and other industry personalities.

Whether tuning in through YouTube or listening through digital audio platforms, followers have developed expectations around the consistency of the programming.

In a world where audiences scroll through countless pieces of content daily, showing up regularly helps build recognition, credibility and trust.

The discussion also touched on how some artistes experience brief success with one or two popular songs, while others who began their careers decades ago remain active and relevant. The difference often comes down to persistence, adaptability and dedication to the craft.

LOYALTY AND RELATIONSHIPS: THE REAL CURRENCY OF ENTERTAINMENT

Beyond consistency, Muscle emphasized the importance of building genuine relationships within the entertainment industry.

“You need relationships to get you to doors that you probably couldn’t get into by yourself.”

Throughout the years, networking has created opportunities that may never have developed through individual effort alone.

Muscle recalled relationships dating back to the late 1990s, including connections within the Black Chiney sound system. One such relationship later helped arrange an extended interview with a successful music producer during the COVID-19 period.

Interestingly, despite not maintaining daily communication over the years, mutual respect remained intact.

The experience demonstrates that meaningful relationships are not necessarily measured by how frequently people communicate but by the trust, respect and loyalty established over time.

“You have to be loyal to who’s loyal to you.”

For emerging artistes and entertainment professionals, the advice is to establish genuine connections, maintain integrity and nurture relationships rather than treating people as temporary opportunities.

MUSIC PROMOTION DOESN’T END WITH ONE RELEASE

The conversation also explored a common misconception in the entertainment industry: that once a song receives radio airplay or online exposure, the promotional work is complete.

Muscle challenged that belief by emphasizing the enormous number of potential listeners who may still be unfamiliar with an artiste’s music.

A song appearing on radio, television, podcasts or social media does not automatically mean everyone has heard it. Some artistes achieve recognition quickly, while others require years of consistent promotion before reaching wider audiences.

Artistes and their management teams are encouraged to study digital analytics through platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Spotify.

Understanding where listeners are located can help identify new markets and create opportunities for expansion.

For example, if an artiste discovers a growing audience in Toronto, Canada, the next step should involve researching local DJs, promoters, radio personalities, media outlets and potential collaborators.

Those insights can become the foundation for meaningful professional relationships and strategic networking.

The interview also explored the importance of promotional tours in expanding an artiste’s reach. Although Muscle previously organized concerts and other promotional events, arranging full promotional tours is no longer the primary focus.

Instead, the work now centres on connecting entertainment professionals with interview opportunities, recording studios, music video production services and other valuable industry resources.

It’s about knowing the right people, creating connections and opening doors through collaboration.

TAKING CANADIAN REGGAE AND DANCEHALL WORLDWIDE

When discussing the future of 2 Lined Music Hut, Muscle offered a straightforward perspective.

“Do I have vision? Yes. Do I plan it out step by step? Not really.”

Rather than making elaborate promises about what the platform will accomplish in five or ten years, the focus remains on setting achievable goals, maintaining consistency, and allowing opportunities to develop naturally.

One of the greatest rewards comes from contributing to the growth and visibility of Canadian Reggae and Dancehall.

Muscle acknowledged generations of pioneers who helped establish the culture through radio, television, live entertainment, and grassroots music promotion.

Today, the internet provides new opportunities to build upon that foundation. An artiste featured on a Canadian platform can potentially reach audiences in Jamaica, the United States, the United Kingdom, Africa, Europe and beyond.

“I’m just happy to be part of the machine, exposing what we have going on out here.”

The mission is not simply about personal recognition. It is about helping showcase talent, preserve the culture, and provide opportunities for future generations.

And when it comes to retirement, there are no immediate plans to step away from the industry.

HONOURING THE VETERANS WHILE WELCOMING NEW TALENT

Another meaningful aspect of 2 Lined Music Hut is its commitment to featuring entertainment professionals at different stages of their journeys.

During the interview, Muscle recalled speaking with an industry veteran with approximately 62 years of experience, alongside a woman named Peaches, who had entered the business only a few years earlier.

These conversations provide different perspectives on the entertainment industry.

Veterans offer historical knowledge, professional wisdom and lessons learned through decades of change. Newcomers bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm and experiences shaped by today’s digital environment.

By creating space for both generations, 2 Lined Music Hut contributes to preserving music history while encouraging the next wave of talent.

Recognizing the contributions of industry veterans while providing opportunities for emerging professionals is an important part of maintaining the culture and ensuring that valuable experiences are passed on.

PASSION: THE HEART BEHIND THE JOURNEY

Perhaps the most powerful lesson from the interview was the belief that genuine love for the craft must remain at the centre of everything.

Muscle acknowledged that passion does not mean the journey will always be easy or that everything will work out as planned. Some years bring exciting opportunities and remarkable achievements, while others come with challenges, disappointments and uncertainty.

However, when someone genuinely loves what they do, that passion becomes the motivation to continue.

“Love doesn’t mean it’s easy. It doesn’t mean that everything’s gonna work.”

These words serve as encouragement to anyone pursuing a career in music, journalism, production, promotion, or entertainment.

Success may not arrive according to a predetermined schedule, but perseverance, meaningful relationships and dedication can create a foundation for lasting achievement.

Muscle’s message was simple: “Love it and everything else will follow.”

A LEGACY STILL IN MOTION

From selling CDs at Malvern Town Centre in Toronto to helping Canadian Reggae and Dancehall talent reach international audiences, the journey behind 2 Lined Music Hut represents the evolution of music promotion across generations.

The technology has changed. The platforms have changed. The way audiences discover music has changed. However, the principles behind meaningful success remain remarkably consistent.

Build relationships. Stay loyal. Keep improving. Promote your work. Respect the pioneers. Support emerging talent. Most importantly, never lose your love for the music.

Through the Entertainment Report Podcast, Muscle provides valuable insight into the dedication and relationships required to maintain a presence in the entertainment business.

As 2 Lined Music Hut continues opening doors, connecting professionals, and sharing stories, its contribution to Canadian Reggae and Dancehall remains an ongoing commitment.

This journey is not simply a reflection on the past; it is about continuing to create opportunities and helping shape the future of the culture.

Because good music never expires, and neither does a genuine love for the culture.
