Updated: 18 hours ago

The 43-year-old artiste was killed on August 1, 2026, in Waterford, Portmore, St. Catherine, leaving behind a musical legacy and a network of collaborators who continue to honour his contribution to the entertainment industry.
Family, friends, fellow artistes and industry colleagues gathered at Boulevard Baptist Church in St. Andrew, Jamaica, on September 26, 2026, for a thanksgiving service celebrating the life of Brian Todd Boucher, professionally known as Ras Ajai.
Among those present to pay their respects were international recording artistes Sean Paul and Tarrus Riley, dancehall artiste Chi Ching Ching, members of the Dutty Rock family, actress and recording artiste Goody Plum, and recording artiste Tamo J, alongside his management team, Cutloose Bruce and Stylzs.
Also present was Ras Ajai’s longtime girlfriend Kim White.

One of the most heartfelt moments of the service came when Ras Ajai’s close friend Boom Boom played “The Better Part of Me,” a song the artiste had recently recorded especially for his daughter, Jahzara. Ras Ajai had intended to surprise her with the song but tragically never had the opportunity. Jahzara heard her father’s tribute for the very first time during the thanksgiving service, leaving her with a lasting expression of his love.
The thanksgiving service was beautifully coordinated by House of Wills – Sizzar, whose team demonstrated professionalism, care and attention to detail.
Management Remains Committed to His Legacy
In reflecting on Ras Ajai’s life and the work they shared with him, his management team emphasized the importance of unity, collaboration and continuing the vision he established.
Bruce James and Stanicia Pate, who managed Ras Ajai together, reaffirmed their commitment to overseeing his legacy and ensuring that his work continues to reach audiences.
“My partner Bruce James and I, Stanicia Pate, managed Ajai and will continue to oversee his legacy. Before his passing, we had a team in Jamaica as well as the United States, and we worked as one. No man is an island, and Ajai understood that. He had a way of bringing people together, connecting the dots and making sure everyone had a part to play,” Pate shared.
For Bruce James and Stanicia Pate, carrying Ras Ajai’s legacy forward means more than preserving his music. It is about building upon the vision he left behind, honouring the relationships he established and ensuring that his artistry continues to reach audiences beyond his lifetime.
Remembering Ras Ajai
Ras Ajai’s passing has left a significant void among those who knew him personally and worked alongside him professionally. The attendance of established artistes and entertainment figures at his thanksgiving service reflected the relationships he built throughout his career.
While his life was tragically cut short, his management remains focused on protecting his legacy and ensuring that his musical contributions are not forgotten.
Authorities have not publicly confirmed a motive or identified suspects in connection with the fatal shooting. The circumstances surrounding his death therefore remain subject to the ongoing investigation.
As those closest to Ras Ajai continue to remember his life and work, the message from his management remains clear: his legacy will be carried forward through unity, continued collaboration and the music he leaves behind.
