Dancehall is alive, well, and pulsing with raw energy once more thanks to a fresh collaboration between two artistes who are determined to revive the genre’s authentic spirit. Dancehall Nice Again, the brand-new track from Shankledip featuring Kimari Unruly Animal, is more than just a musical release. It’s a bold statement, a celebration, and a movement all in one.
In an exclusive interview with JamWeekly Magazine, both artistes spoke passionately about the project, its origins, and the wave it’s already making.
“We were searching for that raw, authentic 90s-style riddim the kind of sound that immediately gets you moving,” they shared. “We found exactly what we were looking for on YouTube and purchased the rights. That was the foundation for everything that followed.”
Released on July 4th, Dancehall Nice Again is already making waves across digital platforms. From Spotify to iTunes, the track is easily accessible to fans worldwide, whether you’re blasting it from your car speakers or turning up in your living room. Distribution is handled through DistroKid, with direct access also available via Kimari Unruly’s official website.
But this isn’t just about audio. The duo is preparing to take the visuals to the next level.
“We’re heading to Jamaica soon to shoot the official music video,” they revealed. “We want it to fully reflect the culture, the streets, the real energy. The same way the song brings the vibe, the video will bring the visuals to match.”
The focus is clear: bringing back the heart of dancehall. The artistes emphasized that this isn’t just a one-off release it’s a mission.
“We’re fully focused on this track and what it represents,” said Kimari Unruly. “It’s clean, high-energy, and it connects people of all ages. No slackness, no negativity just good music with real vibes.”
Shankle dip echoed the sentiment: “This one is for everyone from the youth to the elders. We grew up on this type of dancehall, and it’s time to remind the world what that feels like. This is music for the family, for the dancefloor, for the culture.”
The chemistry between the two artistes was undeniable during the interview. Their mutual respect and shared vision are evident in both their words and the track itself.
“The energy between us was natural,” Shankledip explained. “Working with Kimari felt like a perfect fit. There’s definitely more to come we’re just getting started.”
Already, Dancehall Nice Again has found a strong reception in the streets. Support from the dance community has been overwhelming.
“Big up Boysie, John Hype, Latonya Styles, Shelly Belly, Black Ice so many dancers have embraced the song and shared it with their followers. The energy is electric,” Kimari Unruly added.
Looking ahead, the excitement continues. Their next major performance is set for August, where they’ll be sharing the stage with dancehall star Khago.
“That performance is going to be mad,” said both artistes with a grin. “We’re bringing this song to life with the same energy it was created with pure vibes and power.”
Dancehall Nice Again isn’t just a throwback it’s a reminder of where dancehall came from, and where it’s headed. Clean, powerful, and full of real Jamaican soul, Shankle dip and Kimari Unruly are making it clear: the movement has started.
And yes dancehall is nice again.
