ASK BLONDIE TV: BLONDIE BUILDS A MEDIA EMPIRE

In the ever-evolving world of urban and Caribbean media, Blondie is carving out her own space as a media personality, broadcaster, marketing specialist, and entrepreneur. As the founder of Ask Blondie TV, she has dedicated herself to creating opportunities for entertainers, businesses, community organizations, and independent creatives to gain visibility and connect with wider audiences.

With a career in urban and Caribbean media dating back to 2009, Blondie has built her brand around a simple but powerful philosophy: giving people a platform to tell their stories, promote their work, and reach the audiences they deserve.

Her motto, “Urban + Caribbean Media Right at Your Fingertips,” captures the vision behind Ask Blondie TV, a platform driven by culture, relationships, consistency, and access to promotional opportunities.

In this exclusive interview with Jamweekly Magazine, Blondie opens up about her entrepreneurial beginnings, her journey into broadcasting, the challenges of building a business as a woman, and her vision for the future of urban and Caribbean media.

FROM ENTREPRENEURSHIP TO URBAN AND CARIBBEAN MEDIA

Blondie’s journey into media was not a conventional one. Before establishing herself as a media personality, she entered the restaurant industry, opening her first restaurant in Queens, New York, in 1997.

Her entrepreneurial journey has since expanded into the food, catering, and event-planning industries through It’s Blondelicious, a business she operates alongside her husband. The company offers catering and event-planning services, including Jamaican specialties such as their signature Jamaican black cake, sorrel, passionfruit juice, rum punch, and other beverages.

This foundation in entrepreneurship helped shape Blondie’s understanding of business, branding, customer relationships, and the importance of connecting with people.

Her passion for conversation, entertainment, culture, and storytelling eventually led her further into media.

“My journey in media evolved organically,” Blondie explained. “I’ve always been a person who loves people, conversation, entertainment, culture, and storytelling. Over the years, I realized that media gave me the ability to combine all of those things while creating opportunities for other people.”

She began creating content and promoting individuals, businesses, and events, gradually developing the experience and confidence needed to establish her own media platform.

Her early journey was built on determination rather than a large production team or extensive resources.

“When I started, I didn’t have a big production team behind me. There were times when it was simply me, my phone, my personality, and my determination. I learned how to create opportunities instead of waiting for someone to give me one,” she shared.

That mindset continues to influence her approach to business and media today.

THE VISION BEHIND ASK BLONDIE TV

At the heart of Blondie’s work is Ask Blondie TV, a brand developed from her passion for media, culture, community, and people.

The platform was created to give urban and Caribbean voices a place to be seen and heard, particularly independent creatives, emerging entertainers, small businesses, and individuals who may not always have access to traditional media opportunities.

For Blondie, the mission extends beyond generating likes, views, and online engagement. She believes in building meaningful relationships, maintaining consistency, and helping people connect with audiences who may be interested in their work.

Ask Blondie TV provides opportunities for social media promotion, content creation, event promotion, website features, business features, street promotion, advertising, and other promotional services.

Blondie works with entertainers, entrepreneurs, event promoters, organizations, and individuals seeking to strengthen their visibility and develop their brands.

When asked what distinguishes her approach from others in the industry, she emphasized the importance of personal involvement and understanding each client’s goals.

“I wanted to build something that reflected who I am and how I work. I know what it feels like to build something from the ground up, and I understand how difficult it can be for independent businesses, entertainers, and entrepreneurs to get attention,” she explained.

She added that marketing should involve more than simply publishing a promotional post. It requires understanding the person or business, identifying its objectives, and finding effective ways to communicate its message.

Her experience on both sides of the media industry allows her to understand the needs of people seeking promotion while recognizing what can connect with an audience.

MAKING HER MARK IN BROADCASTING WITH IRIE JAM RADIO

In addition to managing Ask Blondie TV and her marketing ventures, Blondie has established herself in broadcasting through her longstanding relationship with Irie Jam Radio.

She has managed social media for the station for more than a decade, building experience in digital communication, audience engagement, and entertainment promotion before becoming a radio personality in 2024.

She now brings urban and Caribbean hot-topic news to listeners through The Melting Pot News, which airs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Her broadcasting experience has strengthened her understanding of the responsibility that comes with having a public platform.

According to Blondie, preparation, authenticity, and the ability to think quickly are essential qualities for anyone working in broadcasting.

She also recognizes that a media personality’s voice carries responsibility, particularly when discussing topics that affect communities and audiences.

“When you have a platform, you have a responsibility to use it wisely and to understand the audience you are speaking to,” she noted.

Through broadcasting, digital media, and marketing, Blondie continues to build a professional identity that brings together several areas of the entertainment and business industries.

WEARING MANY HATS AND BUILDING A BRAND

Managing a media platform, providing marketing services, working in broadcasting, creating content, and operating businesses requires discipline and organization.

For Blondie, the ability to balance these responsibilities comes from recognizing how each area complements the others.

Her broadcasting experience strengthens her media brand, her media platform creates promotional opportunities for her marketing business, and her marketing knowledge helps her understand what businesses need to reach their target audiences.

“I honestly believe organization, discipline, and consistency are key,” she explained.

Although her schedule involves many moving parts, she views these responsibilities as interconnected rather than separate pursuits.

This integrated approach allows her to use her experience across different industries to create opportunities, strengthen relationships, and continue expanding her business ventures.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES AS A WOMAN IN MEDIA

Building a name in the competitive media industry has not been without challenges.

Blondie acknowledges that one of her greatest obstacles has been proving herself in spaces where people may not initially expect her to belong.

As a woman and an entrepreneur who has built much of her professional identity independently, she has learned the importance of standing firmly in her abilities and recognizing the value she brings to the table.

Her journey has included setbacks, disappointments, and moments when circumstances did not unfold as planned. However, those experiences have helped shape her resilience and determination.

“I’m a survivor. I’ve spent much of my life learning how to survive, adapt, rebuild, and keep moving,” she shared.

Rather than allowing difficult experiences to define her, Blondie has used them as opportunities to learn, adjust, and continue pursuing her vision.

Her story reflects the determination required to build a business while navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship and the changing demands of the media industry.

THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA AND BRAND VISIBILITY

In today’s digital landscape, social media has become an important tool for entrepreneurs, entertainers, and businesses seeking to establish their identities and reach new audiences.

Blondie believes these platforms provide opportunities for individuals to tell their stories and connect with people they might not otherwise reach.

However, she stresses that visibility alone is not enough to build a sustainable brand.

Consistency, quality content, professionalism, and credibility must work together to establish trust and encourage audiences to engage.

“People are watching. Your social media presence can become your introduction before someone ever meets you or does business with you,” she explained.

Her approach to marketing reflects the belief that promotional activities should contribute to a broader brand identity rather than focus exclusively on individual posts or temporary trends.

She continues to monitor changes in media, entertainment, social platforms, and audience behaviour while encouraging individuals and businesses to maintain a clear understanding of who they are.

Although trends can create opportunities, Blondie believes a brand should remain grounded in its identity and purpose.

A PROUD MOMENT: CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR OTHERS

Among Blondie’s proudest professional achievements is building Ask Blondie TV into a recognizable platform while continuing to develop her own career as a media professional.

She also values the relationships she has established and the opportunities she has helped create throughout her time in urban and Caribbean media.

Her commitment to giving people a platform extends beyond established celebrities. She wants independent artists, small businesses, community organizations, community leaders, and emerging entrepreneurs to have opportunities to share their stories and showcase their work.

This mission is especially meaningful to her because she understands what it means to be an underdog trying to establish a place in a competitive industry.

Through Ask Blondie TV, she continues to champion the idea that opportunities should not be limited to those who already have recognition or extensive resources.

Her vision is to help more people gain exposure, strengthen their brands, and connect with audiences that can support their growth.

ADVICE FOR ASPIRING MEDIA PERSONALITIES AND ENTREPRENEURS

For individuals hoping to establish themselves in media, marketing, or entrepreneurship, Blondie’s advice is straightforward: take the first step and remain committed to the process.

She encourages aspiring professionals not to wait until every detail is perfect before beginning. Instead, they should focus on learning their craft, maintaining consistency, protecting their reputation, and understanding that building something meaningful takes time.

Reflecting on her own beginnings, she explained that she started with herself and her phone without having everything figured out.

Her experience has taught her that progress requires action, patience, and a willingness to keep working even when recognition is limited.

One of her most important lessons is not to allow other people’s opinions to determine the value of one’s vision.

For Blondie, believing in yourself, understanding your strengths, and remaining committed to improvement are essential elements of long-term success.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ASK BLONDIE TV?

Looking ahead, Blondie is focused on expanding Ask Blondie TV’s media, marketing, promotional, and event-related services.

She also plans to continue developing her broadcasting career and her work in urban and Caribbean news while creating more opportunities for businesses, entertainers, events, and community organizations.

Her entrepreneurial mindset keeps her open to new ideas, collaborations, and ventures that align with her vision.

Rather than remaining in one place, she continues to seek opportunities to grow her brand and develop projects that provide meaningful value to the communities she serves.

As Ask Blondie TV continues to evolve, its central mission remains the same: connecting people with media, culture, business, entertainment, and opportunities for greater visibility.
