From Toll Gate, Clarendon, to the Top 10: Jamaican Artist Submits Debut Album for 69th Annual GRAMMY Awards Consideration
Jamaican dancehall and reggae artiste E-Dee, born Everton Dennis, is celebrating a significant milestone as his debut full-length album, Young Legend, enters GRAMMY® consideration in the Best Reggae Album category for the 69th Annual GRAMMY Awards. Released through his independent label, Clarendon Records, the project previously reached No. 9 on the iTunes Reggae chart, marking an important achievement in his musical journey.
Born in Toll Gate, Clarendon, Jamaica, and now based in Los Angeles, California, E-Dee continues to bridge Jamaican musical traditions with international influences. His latest project, Young Legend, combines dancehall energy, reggae soul and polished Hollywood production, reflecting the artiste’s Jamaican roots and years of experience in the entertainment industry.
Produced with Grammy-winning producer Qmillion and Jahsee, the album features collaborations with Ginjah, Irie Love and Jazmin Akea. Among its standout tracks are “Water Run,” “Zum Zum Zum,” “She’s Loyal” and “Beautiful Woman,” featuring Ginjah. The project showcases E-Dee’s versatility while delivering music designed to connect with audiences across clubs, streaming platforms and film.
The album’s No. 9 iTunes Reggae chart debut provided a notable boost to its campaign, reinforcing the project’s growing visibility as it enters the GRAMMY consideration process.
“Young Legend is the record I came to America to make,” E-Dee stated. “Toll Gate raised me. Los Angeles sharpened me. This album is for the people who never stopped believing the sound could travel. Number nine on iTunes Reggae was the proof. GRAMMY consideration is the next door.”
Beyond music, E-Dee has established himself as a songwriter, producer and actor. His entertainment credits include the film Out the Gate, starring Paul Campbell and Olive Samuels, as well as Gangland with Tamar Braxton. His musical catalogue also includes the Billboard-charting hit “Bounce Along” with Ms. Triniti, “Revolution” and “Sail Away,” featuring Wayne Wonder.

After relocating to Los Angeles in 2000, E-Dee pursued studies at Musicians Institute and Theater of Arts, further developing his creative skills. As founder of Clarendon Records, he continues to build an independent platform for dancehall, reggae and cross-genre music while retaining ownership of his master recordings.
With Young Legend, E-Dee brings his journey from Clarendon to the international music scene into focus. His GRAMMY consideration submission represents another step in his ongoing pursuit of global recognition, supported by the album’s chart performance, featured collaborations and commitment to Jamaican musical identity.
