TEAMFLEXI: BUILDING BRIDGES FOR UK DANCEHALL THROUGH RADIO, MANAGEMENT AND OPPORTUNITY

From the south side of London to the heart of the UK dancehall scene, Teamflexi, also known as Teamflexi Promotions, has built a reputation around one central mission: creating opportunities for artistes.
A radio presenter, music manager, promoter, producer and now label owner, Teamflexi has spent years developing platforms designed to give emerging talent the exposure, guidance and connections needed to move forward. His journey is deeply rooted in music, with his passion influenced by a family surrounded by sound-system culture and a mother whose own contribution to reggae culture helped shape his understanding of the power of radio.
Speaking exclusively with Jamweekly Magazine, Teamflexi reflected on his journey, his work with UK dancehall artistes, his award-winning radio programme LA FRIDAZ, the importance of protecting artistes’ rights and his vision for the future.
MUSIC HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN HIS BLOOD
For Teamflexi, music was never simply a career choice.
“Music runs in my blood. It’s in my veins,” he explained.
Growing up in London, he was surrounded by music and sound-system culture. His mother, Mrs. Lee Coxsone, played an important role in his introduction to the industry, while his father was a DJ, MC and producer.
His mother also became a major inspiration for his eventual move into radio. According to Teamflexi, she created radio platforms that provided opportunities for upcoming UK artistes, many of whom would go on to establish themselves as respected names in the British music scene.
That early exposure planted a seed that would eventually grow into Teamflexi’s own commitment to developing new talent.
His relationship with music, however, began long before his professional career. One of his earliest memories is performing at London’s Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre at just 10 years old. During his teenage years, he completed a Level 3 music production course, gaining experience in DJing, studio production and piano.
By his early twenties, he was also leading a choir of more than 20 members and performing at various venues.
“It has been quite a funny relationship with music,” he said, reflecting on the many different chapters of his journey.
FROM SOCIAL MEDIA TO RADIO
Teamflexi officially considers himself professionally involved in the music industry for approximately seven years, but one of his biggest early breakthroughs came through social media.
During the first lockdown period, his comedy skits on TikTok began attracting millions of views. That success created new opportunities and eventually helped lead him toward radio.
He began giving feedback and opinions on artistes’ music before developing his own brand and establishing LA FRIDAZ on London Hott Radio.

The platform would become one of his most important contributions to the UK music community.
LA FRIDAZ, which airs Fridays from 8–10 p.m., has developed into a platform dedicated to giving artistes exposure and opportunities. The programme’s ethos is centred around “sending artists ah road with a clean heart.”
Its impact was formally recognised in 2025 when Teamflexi and the programme received a Royal British Air Force/Navy Black Awards recognition for “Services to Music.”
For Teamflexi, receiving that recognition was particularly meaningful because the previous year’s recipient was dancehall heavyweight Bounty Killer.
“Winning the same award as Bounty Killer, the godfather of dancehall, that’s a big honour,” he said.
CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR UK DANCEHALL
One of Teamflexi’s strongest beliefs is that emerging artistes need more than music. They need platforms.
Through his radio show and promotional work, he has provided UK dancehall artistes with radio play, interviews, publicity and opportunities to connect with a wider audience.
His platform generates numerous publishing opportunities, while its audience includes listeners and industry professionals searching for new talent.
Teamflexi explained that he continues to discover artistes through social media, often approaching performers whose talent catches his attention and offering them an opportunity to have their music premiered on a licensed platform.
His criteria for identifying potential include appearance, lyrical content and stage presence.
But exposure is only part of the equation.
Teamflexi also believes artistes need to understand the business behind the music.
PROTECTING ARTISTES FROM THE BUSINESS TRAPS
One of the areas Teamflexi feels particularly passionate about is educating young artistes about music law and their rights.
He has seen too many emerging artistes enter agreements without fully understanding ownership, splits and the rights attached to their music.
“Too many young artists are locked in with people who take advantage of them,” he explained.
He encourages artistes to understand their contracts, ownership and royalty arrangements and to ensure that proper documentation, including split sheets, is in place when necessary.
For Teamflexi, management isn’t simply about booking shows or promoting songs. It is about helping an artiste understand the business and make informed decisions about their career.
His approach to management is built around professionalism, loyalty, honesty and dedication.
FROM MANAGING ARTISTES TO BUILDING PLATFORMS
Teamflexi’s management experience expanded after he became the UK manager for Jamaican-based artiste Shemdon.
He later worked with UK dancehall sensation Real Askel 45, who has collaborated with Jamaican dancehall artiste Charlie Black and scored attention with the hit “Shell.”
That relationship would eventually become part of a bigger vision.
Teamflexi began creating platforms and events where artistes could perform, network and gain exposure.
One such initiative was Stars on de Stage, a live-performance platform and party concept launched in Brixton, featuring a rotation of artistes.
His involvement with the UK dancehall movement also saw him working with figures such as DJ AG, giving him an opportunity to dedicate a portion of an event to UK dancehall artistes and provide them with much-needed exposure.
THE MC NUFFY TOUR
One of Teamflexi’s proudest accomplishments to date has been creating the MC Nuffy Tour.
The 2026 UK tour travelled through London, Birmingham and Luton, bringing together Jamaican and UK-based talent.
The tour featured artistes including Real Askel 45, Marcy Chin, Ras Emmanuel, Fran Capone and Excellent, alongside supporting acts from across the UK dancehall scene.
For Teamflexi, the significance of the tour went beyond putting shows together. It was about creating an environment where UK artistes could stand alongside established Jamaican talent, build relationships and reach audiences they might not otherwise have accessed.
He describes MC Nuffy as someone who has provided him with significant strength and advice throughout his journey, making the opportunity to create the tour especially meaningful.
BUILDING TEAMFLEXI PRODUCTIONS
As his career continues to evolve, Teamflexi is now taking another major step by developing his own record label, Teamflexi Productions.
Over the past two years, he has developed an increasing interest in producing music and creating beats.
His current focus includes working on a project for Real Askel 45, with two songs already released: “Mumma No Well,” featuring Teamflexi himself, and “STEAM.”
Both songs, he says, have been performing well, marking another important chapter in his evolution from presenter and manager into producer and label executive.
RADIO STILL MATTERS
In an era dominated by streaming platforms, TikTok and social media, Teamflexi remains convinced that radio continues to play a critical role in breaking new music.
He sees radio promotion as an important part of an artiste’s overall marketing strategy because it can immediately introduce music to a wider network.
For independent artistes in particular, platforms that actively support emerging talent can make a significant difference.
Teamflexi also points to the financial side of music, stressing the importance of royalties and publishing rights. His message is clear: artistes should not only focus on getting their songs played; they need to understand how those plays connect to their long-term careers and income.
A CHANGING INDUSTRY
Looking at the music industry today compared with when he started, Teamflexi believes there has been a noticeable change in the way some selectors support emerging artistes.
He has seen selectors who previously received criticism from artistes for not playing unsigned talent begin to change their approach.
According to Teamflexi, more selectors are recognising the importance of supporting artistes on the ground and helping build the next generation of talent.
He believes the industry still has room for improvement, particularly when it comes to giving emerging artistes genuine opportunities and helping them understand the business side of their careers.
LEAVING A LEGACY OF OPPORTUNITY
When asked about the contribution he is most proud of, Teamflexi points to the recognition he received from the Black Awards.
Being recognised alongside accomplished Black professionals and receiving an honour previously awarded to Bounty Killer remains one of the defining moments of his career.
But his idea of success extends beyond awards.
For Teamflexi, success is also hearing an unsigned artiste say that his platform gave them an opportunity they could not find elsewhere.
It is bringing people together from different parts of London’s music scene. It is encouraging artistes to network, collaborate and build relationships.
And it is creating spaces where talent can be heard.
THE NEXT CHAPTER
As he moves forward, Teamflexi is focused on expanding Teamflexi Productions, developing his production skills, working with Real Askel 45 and continuing to create opportunities for UK dancehall artistes.
His journey has taken him from performing as a child to studying music production, leading choirs, becoming a social-media personality, entering radio, managing artistes, producing events and launching his own label.
Through every chapter, however, the message has remained consistent: create opportunities and help people understand their worth.
For the next generation of artistes and music professionals, his advice is simple.
“Know your craft.”
It is a short message, but one that perfectly captures Teamflexi’s philosophy. Talent may open the door, but knowledge, professionalism, preparation and persistence are what allow an artiste or industry professional to build something that lasts.
For Teamflexi, the journey is far from finished. With radio, management, events, production and Teamflexi Productions continuing to develop, his next chapter could prove to be his most influential yet.
